1930s Fashion

Is anyone watching the BBC's new "Dancing on the Edge" series?  It is a fantasy filled, cliched romp of a show filled with gorgeous dresses and gorgeous actors.  I am not sure how accurate anything about the series is, but I love the clothes.  Everyone looks FAB-U-LOUS!  Young or old, black or white, the glamour is in high gear.  I don't know how to capture still shots from the BBC iPlayer for you, so I have had to settle for some publicity shots around the web for you.

Take a look!

Looking at this makes me want a fox fur collar.  You know foxes have been attacking babies in their beds here in London, so, it might be alright! From www.j-montgomery.net

Why doesn't naturally curly hair ever look that good?  Two strands of pearls for breakfast.  I do it all the time;-)

Not everyone was glamorous.  Here is Stanley's secretary.  Still cute, but no evening gowns here! From www.whoisjennalouisecoleman.com

There are some very good pictures of the costumes by Lindsay Pugh, but I couldn't get them copied properly onto blogger.  If you are intrigued, you can find more here on her site.

  1. Wow there has been a host of vintage fashion eye candy on the BBC of late - I'll look for this on BBC America.

BTW - Did you find a solution for your Style Arc pants?

  2. Wow! What a stunning group of costumes! I won't be able to watch this series unless it comes out on DVD or something, but thanks for sharing the eye candy anyway! :-)

  3. Foxes eating babies in their beds?! Good grief! That's when you ditch the faux and go for the real thing with a very clear conscience! Now don't y'all hate me or call PETA!!! I'm a northern Canadian girl, and faux will never ever in millenia touch the real thing for insulation against Canadian winter cold!

And did you decide what to do with your trousers?

Oh, apart from that weird leather trench though.
I'll keep a look out for this series, we often get them here eventually. Thanks for the heads up!

  5. Thanks for the link. I haven't come across the series, but I can often be found paying more attention to clothes than storylines when watching films or TV!
